No Shoes

Dad was really upset because the doctor said he couldn’t wear shoes.  Dad hit me from the back seat of the car Aug 20th. He had asked me if I could take him to buy slippers. I said No but before I could finish my sentence, he yelled, “Why don’t you do what I tell you? as he pounded on the back of my seat. He hit me and I called him on it. I told him we had an appointment with the doctor at the house and we couldn’t go because we didn’t have time.

We arrived at the house before the doctor came. I took Mom inside and Dad proceeded to get out of the car without his walker. He walked into the house as he used the car to prevent a fall and proceeded up the ramp using the rails until he entered the house and grabbed Mom’s extra walker. I was taking Mom to the bathroom following her as she used her walker to enter the bathroom. I turned around and there was Dad going straight to the master bedroom bathroom using Mom’s other walker. Shortly thereafter the doctor and her nurse arrived.

The doctor checked his vitals, his medication and gave him a memory test which he had passed. He was dismissed from palliative care.

Then at night as my parents were getting ready for Dad said, “I like it when you’re mad at me!”  I walked out of the room he followed me.  And started again  I left the house. I know he is doing it on purpose and wants to have control. I can’t allow Dad to manipulate and verbally abuse me. I am here to take care of them and I intend to do just that. My emotions are in check and it will be all business from now on respectful yet firm.
