I flew home to Las Vegas two weeks ago. With caregivers visiting in both the morning and afternoon, my parents were well taken care of. My brother took care of the bedtime meds and was there throughout the night.
We are in phase-2 of the Covid-19 pandemic in El Paso, TX but Las Vegas is still in Phase-1. Flying home May 20th was a new experience. There is only one flight out of El Paso to Vegas with a 1 1/2 hour wait in Phoenix, AZ. I landed in Phoenix late in the afternoon and needed to eat! Two places were offering dinner (take-out). Not much of a choice–next time I fly, I plan to pack a lunch/dinner.
I arrived at night and was able to spend the next day with my husband. It was his day off because he lost a day of work. We’re luckier than most. His job is still essential but it is dependent on tourism. Seeing my husband was the best day of my life this year! I am looking forward to another trip which I will be taking May 31-June 1. My husband will be working, and I have an eye appointment. Mom’s caregiver will be there for my parent’s during the day and, again, my brother will be there for them during the night. I can plan more one-day getaways now that my parents are doing well (for a pair of 90 year-olds). I pray every day for their health and well-being.
