A Little Respite

Since Dad fell on August 15, we have been at the hospital daily. He was transferred to MonteVista Skilled Nursing for rehab. I had a scheduled flight on the 20th & 21st after switching my previous flight for the 20-22. After my anniversary flight, I have scheduled all flights for 1 day trips. In order to fly home on the 20, my brother from Austin came to take over the duties at home. Mom is well taken care of by her caregivers 12 hours a day starting at 7:00 AM.

After being transferred and leaving for a much needed break, brother told me he knew what I was dealing with on a daily basis. He left and it was back to visiting Dad and Mom was grateful she still could. After a week’s stay Dad was making steady improvement. His 20th day all covered by insurance is September 5th. On the 30th of August we could not visit Dad because there was a covid case. I don’t know what Dad was like those three days without us. Those three days were a break for me although Mom missed him I tried several distractions. We went out to eat most days and I was willing to take her to see friends or sisters but she declined.

Dad was released from rehab 3 days early, Friday September 3. Lorena and I picked him up. I knew I would need her help. But she was able to do very little since she is older and not as strong as I had hoped she could be.

Hmm
